A former barrister, Bryce Crisp did not turn to acting until he was in his early thirties. A successful television run as a master-of-disguise thief in The Complex Martyr caught the eye of Donatello Calabria.
While initially unpopular as Jove Brand, the audience warmed to Crisp’s interpretation of Brand as a knight-errant rather than assassin. Crisp's era was defined by sumptuous excess in all things, as the Jove Brand films also served as travelogues. It also softened both Brand and the tone of the series, drawing in an even larger audience.
Try as he might, Crisp was never able to escape the iconic role of Jove Brand. He did, however, build a fortune through shrewd investments. A lifelong bachelor, Crisp has been connected with dozens of famous women, both on and off screen. He now splits his time between London and Napa Valley.
