Tender is the head of WARDEN. Sitting behind his three-fold desk, with its Herne the Hunter and Stag inlays, he charges Jove Brand, the Royal Gamesman, with his quests.
A popular fan theory is that Tender was once Jove Brand himself, retiring into the senior command role. However, to date, every Jove Brand on both the page and screen has died in service to the crown, leading to a rival theory that Jove Brand must never retire or resign, but always must die in commission of their duty.
Over the nineteen film series, their have been only three Tenders, with the most recent Tender being a woman, a change no doubt made consciously by Dina Calabria when she took over the franchise after the death of her father and brother.
