#3: Right of Way (1969)

Description

The third installment in the series and the first to have a significant departure from the content of its namesake novel. After the thrilling (for its time) motorbike chase scene, Big Don Calabria was determined to include a more elaborate vehicle set piece in the next film. The result is a extended sequence as Brand hunts the royal jewels dispersed among a dozen expensive sports cars, each of which is totaled as Brand takes them down with the White Stag, now equipped with machine guns and a mortar. Vivian Lake, Brand’s armorer, makes a rare appearance outside her workshop beneath the Thames, behind the wheel of a roadster that spits flame.

Film scholars believe Big Don Calabria had the vehicles tripped and engines removed, as his personal fleet grew notably after the release of this film.
