#18: Named Brand (2014)

Description

Continuing the twisty trend of the Dina Calabria controlled Brand films, after a critical failure during a chemical attack on London, WARDEN breaks away from all governmental oversight, seemingly gone rogue. While most of its agents are reshuffled into different branches, Jove Brand, an artifact of a bygone age, is actively hunted by the authorities and the position of Royal Gamesman abolished.

As the Jove Brand searches for the villain behind the chemical attacks, we learn WARDEN has gone underground, with the reshuffled agents becoming loyal sleepers. Solely under royal control, WARDEN is no beholden to no administration. They are once again a shadow organization, beholden to no political agenda, outside and above the law.

After shocking twists in the recent films, sitting down in the theater, the audience did not know what to expect. Playing off the popularity of superhero franchise movies, Jove Brand is now autonomous and possibly opposed to the government, rather than its servant.

A series of misfortunes on set, including the deaths of several crew members also added to rabid fan speculation about the troubled production. At this point, Calabria Productions was now fully funding the Brand films without outside aid, and was no longer subject to any pressures applied by partners and insurance companies, allowing them to take practical risks a normal production would have mitigated with computer graphic imaging.
