The Jove Brand formula is turned on its head as Brand finds himself not the hunter, but the prey, as a mysterious cabal of masked assassins pursue Brand around the globe, using technology to cut off his communication and support. The desperate Brand is forced to do the forbidden, and resurrecting his former identity as he returns to his ancestral home. We learn Prestor’s Brand was to be a wealthy lord, but chose a life of duty over that of the idle rich.
While a strong showing, this installment brings in psychological and survival horror elements not normally seen in a Brand film. Dina Calabria again is ahead of the curve, foreseeing the financial crisis and the re-invigoration of the horror genre. While not popular with an older demographic, this film brought a younger audience back to the Jove Brand fandom and was a box office smash.
