The oldest child of “Big Don” Calabria, Dina Calabria has ushered Jove Brand into the modern era, and, in the opinion of many, exceeded her father’s accomplishments. She definitely exceeded his box office performance, even when taking inflation into account.
But Dina Calabria did not come to the throne without loss. First, the death of her father, and then the death of her younger brother, who we now know was willed the rights to Jove Brand, skipping over the daughter for the son.
After those losses, the franchise was in ruins, bereft of funds and abandoned by its audience. That Dina Calabria has been able to bring the Jove Brand films to new heights is nothing short of miraculous, and it is criminal that she has never been recognized by any award-giving association.
